About
The Film
Yes. Macbeth has been brought to the screen before. But never like this. "The Tragedy of Macbeth" is crafted as a psychological horror film that dives deep into the tumultuous conscience of its protagonists, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, while also leaning into the bone-chilling motivations and omnipotent presence of the Three Weird Women. The film is unsettling, disturbing and tragically human.
The Team Behind The Film

John DeSotelle
Director/ Executive Producer
Actor, Director, Educator and Artistic Director of both John DeSotelle Acting Studio and Nuance Theatre Co., John DeSotelle is considered by many professional artists in the film and theater community to possess a brilliant eye for the actor’s process across both stage and screen.
DeSotelle has worked in film, television and regional theater, and has been directing and teaching for more than 25 years -since 2013, at his private acting studio in New York City. Under his mentorship as Artistic Director, fifteen Studio Series plays and festivals have been brought to the stage and ten professional theatrical stage productions have performed to wide acclaim with DeSotelle at the helm.
Since his triumphant run of "Hamlet" in 2017, DeSotelle began preparing for a staged production of The "Tragedy of Macbeth." Countless hours exploring the text and studying the inner workings of the characters and the history behind the story has resulted in a concept of "Macbeth" that DeSotelle believes has not been fully undertaken. The humanity of the characters, the mystery and influences surrounding the weird women amidst the very real psychological terror and darkness that is associated with this story, DeSotelle realized that this was truly one of the first horror stories of all time. After shooting the proof of concept trailer it became apparent that this vision of Shakespeare’s "Macbeth" would be much better served within the medium of film.
